MommySecrets

Being a mom is the hardest thing I've ever done, but it has brought me so much joy! I want to encourage other moms on their journey, I'll share motherhood tricks, spotlight tips I've learned from friends, and I hope you will share your ideas. I will focus on secrets that help families stay balanced, healthy, frugal, creative, and closely knit. I will also share favorite fiction and nonfiction books that I have enjoyed. Many blessings to you on your mothering journey!

Joanna Horwitz early readers are great--I loved the relationship between the siblings in one I read but can't remember the name :(

Thanks! We love the Homer Price books.

I don't know about the reading level, but I would say that the content in The Westing Game is probably more appropriate for ages 10 and up, or about 4th grade.

2008 marks the 50th anniversary of Danny and the Dinosaur, which has sold over 10 million copies worldwide. More information about Syd Hoff can be found at the new website www.SydHoff.org, dedicated to honoring his rich and creative legacy.

I would move The Westing Game to grades 3-5 and The Magic Tree House books to K-2. Other fabulous G3-5 books are:
Chasing Vermeer by Blue Balliett
The Wright 3 by Blue Balliett
Summerland by Michael Chabon (this may be slightly above 5th grade level)

Anna's favorite books for this year were:
The Grimm Sisters series by Michael Buckley
The Invention of Hugo Cabret by Brian Selznick
Understood Betsy by Dorothy Canfeld
All of a Kind Family by Sydney Taylor
The Little Ballerina

Can you tell we LOVE books?!
Shannon
