Children's Book Series - part 2
Here is a list of books (non-series books) for children in grades K-2 that promote healthy child development. Of course there are hundreds of books that could be on the list, but these are some of my favorites & some new books that come highly recommended. Scaredy Squirrel books (there are 3 on different topics) by Melanie Watt
Joanna Horwitz early readers are great--I loved the relationship between the siblings in one I read but can't remember the name :(

I don't know about the reading level, but I would say that the content in The Westing Game is probably more appropriate for ages 10 and up, or about 4th grade.

I would move The Westing Game to grades 3-5 and The Magic Tree House books to K-2. Other fabulous G3-5 books are:
