God is Our Refuge - Reflections on Psalm 91

“He who dwells in the shadow of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty. 

[Choosing to sit under God’s teaching and listening to His wise counsel will afford us the blessings of His peace and joy from His blessed fountains.] 

He will cover you with His feathers and under His wings you will find refuge;

His faithfulness will be your shield and rampart [barrier wall]. 

You will not fear the terror of the night

[unknown ventures and hazy plans and the protection of your hopes and dreams]

nor the arrow that flies by day. 

[attacks and trials and temptations]

If you make the Most High your dwelling then no harm will befall you, no disaster will come near your tent.  He will command his angels concerning you to guard you in all your ways; they will lift you up in your hands, so that you will not strike your foot against a stone.”
