Reading People: How Seeing the World through the Lens of Personality Changes Everything

by Anne Bogel

This is a very good intro to personalities. She explores 7 personality platforms:
Introverts vs. Extroverts
Highly Sensitive People
The Five Love Languages
Keirsey’s Temperments
The Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (and Cognitive Functions)
The Clifton StrengthsFinder
The Enneagram

She briefly explains each platform and their primary facets using everyday language.  She gives lots of great examples through relevant stories from her life and lives of those around her.

But her perspective is unique because she talks about how understanding the platform can impact life and relationships. She offers a huge opportunity to impact marriage, parenting, workplace, and spiritual life. But equally important, she helps us understand and appreciate our own hearts and minds, reminding us to be grateful for the way God made us.

I would recommend this book to male and female teens and adults interested in personality and the way it impacts life.

A Different Way to Study the Bible

by Dr. William H. Marty

Product Details

Sometimes reading the Bible in a fresh perspective opens your eyes to a whole new understanding. That's what this retelling of the Bible in common language did for me. While it's very important to read scripture straight from the Bible, this storytelling method helped me see things in the Bible that I've never noticed before.  i love that!

So as long as someone is reading this as a complement to scripture, I think it will be a great tool. I hope it will inspire others to read scripture more thoroughly.

I would recommend this book to anyone that wants to know more about the Bible, male or female, adults or teens.

Great Devo for Tween Girls!

Brave Beauty: Finding the Fearless You (Faithgirlz)

I just got the opportunity to peruse the new book Brave Beauty, written by Proverbs 31 Ministries speaker Lynn Cowell. WOW! This is a great resource for tween girls! Subtitled, "Finding the Fearless You", The publisher summed it up nicely by saying, "It's all about helping girls find confidence in God, rather than in someone, some place, or some thing,"

100 short devotionals, packed with scriptures and relatable stories. Cowell even includes quotes from the journal she kept as a tween! Solid advice for girls, and a prompter for moms to remember the feelings and struggles of the teenage years.

I can't wait to share this with my daughter as she turns 11 in a few weeks. I would honestly recommend this book to any mom/daughter as they enter the tween years!

Fatal Trust is the first book I've read by Todd Johnson, and I enjoyed it. It's a legal drama with lots of suspense, reminiscent of a Grisham novel. Definitely unpredictable, as I never guessed how the story would end. Parts of the book were a little hard to follow, but overall a good read.

It has a little bit of violence, but nothing too graphic. No sex or language. I would recommend the book to any reader interested in legal suspense - male or female.
