Root beer sharing celebration

Today was the first day of school, so we planned a creative way of sharing stories about our day . For each sip of root beer that a child took he had to share one unique thing about his day. I gots to learn some really cool thing about the kids' days, and they loved the sweet treat of having a root beer!

Pipe cleaner art fun

Inspired by Family Fun magazine, we have been doing pipe cleaner art today. We are using the remains of a broken styrofoam cooler as the base for our artwork.  The kids are using pipe cleaners to decorate bracelets, wacky hats,  and desk art for teachers, friends, and themselves. We had a great time!

O'charleys and education

I love it when restaurants have menus for kids that are fun,  but also educational. O'charleys' latest title is "wonders of the world". It features 7 man made wonders of the world including mathematical and science challenges. Cool to watch the kids have fun and learn!

Easy Appetizers - Summer Salsa

 (from my friend Kathy Brown)

 

Mix these ingredients together in a large bowl:

 

1 can shoepeg corn drained

1 can black eye peas drained

4 roma tomatoes diced

1 avocado diced         

1 bunch cilantro chopped

5 scallions chopped

 

dressing - mix together and pour over the vegetables and beans. 

1/3 cup olive oil

¼ cup vinegar

1 clove garlic pressed

cayenne pepper to taste

salt & pepper to taste

 

 

Stir all ingredients together, and serve cold with chips to dip!
